Much appreciated. :)
I look forward to reading the other parts.

Now...about this social media breakfast location. Hmmmm.

Re: 4 Blog Posts About FourSquare: Part 3 – A Case Study of Successful Engagement via FourSquare

Thanks for your comments Wendy. I could not agree more regarding training staff and empowering them to deliver on specials and promotions that are offered. I find nothing more frustrating than showing up with a coupon and getting a blank stare in return. Employees definitely need to be involved in the process of offering and promoting specials.

Re: 4 Blog Posts About FourSquare: Part 3 – A Case Study of Successful Engagement via FourSquare

Also love the idea of a Mayors convention. I can see that if you have a buildup, rather than compete at one place for a mayordom, it could be used to promote foursquare at more business.

Re: 4 Blog Posts About FourSquare: Part 3 – A Case Study of Successful Engagement via FourSquare

I suggest as retail locations and businesses start using Foursquare, time should be taken to educate staff on what you are doing so they can answer questions for customers. This makes a much better impression on the customer when they walk in and ask if there is a special. Barriques staff is good about this but other locations - staff look like a deer caught in headlights.

Re: Starting Social Media from Scratch

Whoops, sorry I missed replying on this Tony. I unfortunately didn't RSVP before the last tickets were sold. Looked like a great topic, though. Looking forward to the next SMB!

Re: Starting Social Media from Scratch

We all have lots to learn Kristin. Just from my personal experience, I would also underscore the value of setting expectations among leadership about your social media efforts. Let them know your goals, how often you will share progress/results, and don't be afraid to say what's working, what's not. Learning from experiments will only demonstrate your recognization of the strategic goals and how best you can reach them. Anyway, setting this expectation at the beginning can save a lot of confusion later, especially leadership is a tough sell on soc media! ~Kira, @kksparks

Re: Starting Social Media from Scratch

I may have to append my original post to include that Tom. Thanks for the comment and for the mentions on Twitter, etc.

Re: Starting Social Media from Scratch

I'd also suggest finding your "voice" on social networks. This can take time and must be geniune and authentic. Stick with that voice in every post, interaction, sweepstakes, etc. Live your social identity through this voice.

Re: Blogging while waiting for a haircut, The Rule of Three and three articles that make a lot of sense…

OK, so now I need to follow my own advice and start blogging more. Just posted again after several months of neglecting my blog. The key seems to be writing when you come up with an idea and/or writing down future blog ideas so you don't forget them. I have a list of about a dozen topics now and just started a 4 part series.

Re: Blogging while waiting for a haircut, The Rule of Three and three articles that make a lot of sense…

Tony,
Thanks for the shout out. I like to keep my posts a little anecdotal, like the haircut post a while back. So, Nielsen just released a report indicating that there is a quantifiable lift when social media is used in conjunction with advertising. I'll blog about that over the weekend, but I'll work in a story that compliments the findings, and no it won't be about my haircut adventure. I'm leaning more toward last night's TMA+Peritus staff bowling event - fun but not pretty.
